1:00 pm Strong Gales and open Cloudy Weather.
6:00 pm Heavy Gusts of Wind and Sleet.
8:00 pm Ditto Weather. Ship obliged to be carefully attended with the Helm & kept before the Sea, it runs so high by which means she is frequently to the Northward of her Course. This will prevent me making the Isle Grand as laid down in Lat. 45°0′S 35°40′W which I fully intended to do, at least to have looked for it.
8:00 am More Moderate but a high Sea & dark Cloudy Weather. Continue to scrub Hammocks untill all is clean and dryed. I have allways two sets by which means the People can be generally shifted twice every fortnight or three Weeks. Served Sweet Wort & dryed with fires as before.
12:00 pm Moderate Gale and long Swell from the SSW with dark gloomy Weather but got a tolerable Observation. Birds as Yesterday, but no signs of vicinity of Land. Under all Sail and Fore Topmast Steering Sail, being now 12 leagues to the North of Isle Grand I give up all intentions of looking for it.
