At St. Helens

Sunday, Dec. 9, 1787

Strong Gales and Squally with heavy Rain at times. at ½ past 4 p.m. came too in St. Helens Road in 7 fathoms & veered ½ a Cable, Bembridge Point SBW and the land Mark WSW. At 7 A.M. Struck yards & Top Masts and Veered to a Whole Cable, Cleaned below and dryed.
