Tobin's Providence Logbook Jul 13, 1793

[H M Ship Providence from Jamaica towards] England – 1793

Saturday July 13th

 1 pm: Light breezes with haze

 2 pm: Opened a cask of Beef No 1572 contents 66 double Pieces – a swell from the NW – Exercised great Guns & fired

 7 pm: Worked the pumps as usual, after letting water into the Ship

12 mid: Light breeze with a heavy dew falling

 4 am: At Day light the same ship in company as before Scrubbed the Hammock cloths – Served thick portable soup gruel for breakfast

 8 am: Light breezes and fine weather with haze – Got up all Chests and Bags – Exercised great Guns – & new entered men & Marines at small Arms – Washed the Gun, Orlop & Cockpit decks – served Krout – Aired ship with fires – broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer – at Noon moderate breeze & fair weather with haze – same ships in Company
