Remarks &c

April 1793

Friday 19th First part moderate breezes with showers of rain middle & latter part light breezes and fair weather At 4 PM parted the stern hawser – weighed the anchor, bent another hawser & carried out the anchor again – arrived a french sloop prize to the Spitfire schooner – Sailmakers as yesterday Carpenters at the yard, & fixing several stocks – loosed Sails to dry – Gunners employed repairing Cartridges, makikng wads &c &c – received 100 pound of gh beef – at 10 AM arrived a french sloop prize to the Proserpine – made Signal for such to the Penn – People fixing stoppers &c &c &c – furled sails – sent five volunteers on board the Penelope – Entered one Volunteer – Made Signal for weekly accounts

Saturday 20th First and latter part fresh breezes and hazy – middle part light breezes and fair – hazy – AM Sailmakers employed at the Yard – Carpenters making swivel stocks &c – Got up chests and Bags & washed the Gun; Orlop, & cockpit decks – Made the Penelope Signal for a Midshipman. Received 109 pound of fresh Beef
