Tobin's Providence Logbook Nov 24, 1792

[H M Ship Providence from Timor towards St. Helena] – 1792

Saturday November 24th

 1 pm: Fresh Breezes and cloudy weather

 2 pm: Squally, in 2d Reef Mizen Top Sail

 3 pm: employed as yesterday

 5 pm: Fine clear weather saw Albatrosses & Sheerwaters

 6 pm: Worked the Pumps

 8 pm: Fresh breezes and fair weather

12 mid: Clear weather

 2 am: Squally – handed the Top Gallant Sails

 4 am: Cloudy weather

 5 am: Set Top Gallant Sails and Staysails; out 2d Reef Mizen Top Sail

 7 am: Saw Albatrosses and Sheerwaters

 8 am: Served Portable Soup gruel for Breakfast

 9 am: Moderate breezes and fine weather. Served Krout Up all Chests and Bags and washed all the Decks – sluiced with water to kill cockroaches and aired with stoves in the Cockpits

11 am: Sailmakers repairing the old Fore Top Sail – Cooper making Buckets & People picking oakum

12 noon: At Noon moderate breezes and fine weather
