His Majestys Ship Providence from Timor towards [St. Helena – 1792]

Remarks Sunday October 28th

 1 pm: Fresh Gales and cloudy weather

 2 pm: Saw Tropic Birds

 3 pm: People washing and mending their cloaths

 4 pm: Worked the Pumps

12 mid: Squally with a light shower of Rain – The Wind unsettled

 2 am: Fresh breeze and settled weather

 6 am: Set the Lower steering sail – Saw flying fish and Sheerwaters

 8 am: Served thick portable Soup gruel for Breakfast – Fine weather cleaned below & aired with fires – Borched a Cask of Spruce

10 am: Mustered the Ships Company in Divisions – Captain Bligh read prayers to the People – Sc Krout – Spoke the Assistant all well – At Noon fresh Gale and fair weather with haze – Latitude Observed 18°..02′ South
