Tobin's Providence Logbook Oct 15, 1792

H M Ship Providence from Timor [towards St. Helena – 1792]

Remarks Monday October 15th

 1 pm: Light airs inclining to calm

 3 pm: Saw Gannet Boobies and a Shark

 4 pm: Pleasant breeze with cloudy weather

 7 pm: Worked the pumps as usual after letting water into the Ship – at dusk in Royals & Top Gallant Steering Sails

 9 pm: Moderate breeze and fine weather

 5 am: Set Royals and Top Gallant steering Sails – Saw a Boobie – Served thick portable Soup gruel for Breakfast

 8 am: Cleaned below and aired ship with fires – Bore cole & portable Soup thickened with oatmeal for dinner – Saw a School of fish & a flock of Sea Birds – Sailmaker repairing the Lower Steering Sail – Stowed the Bower Anchors – Caught a Sandpiper Saw a brown sheerwater & a few flying fish – Served Vinegar

12 noon: At Noon Moderate breeze and fine weather – Swell from the SW
   Latitude Observed 11°..22′ South
