1 pm: Fresh Breezes and fair weather – Sea from the Southward
2 pm: People employed washing and mending cloaths – Sailmaker repairing the boats Sails
5 pm: Worked the pumps
6 pm: In steering sails and 1st Reefs Top Sails
7 pm: Spoke the Assistant, all well on board
8 pm: Pleasant breeze and fine weather
9 pm: Saw porpoises
10 pm: Gunner employed in the Magazine
12 mid: The same weather

Mountainous Island seen August 3d - SW¼S 6 or 7 Leagues
4 am: Fresh breeze and clear weather
5 am: Out 1st Reefs, and set steering Sails – scrubbed bags – Served Thick portable Soup, for Breakfast – at 8 a pleasant breeze & fine weather cleaned below and aired with fires – Served Krout – portable soup & bore cole in the pease for dinner – Broached a puncheon of Spruce beer Mustered the Ships Company in Divisions, read the articles of war and performed divine Service
11 am: at 11 Saw an Island fromn the Topmast head bearing SWBW – very fine clear weather.
The Island* A bearing S48W from the deck – saw two other Lands fromthe Topmast head bearing WBS
& WSW – Saw a Large bird of the petterel Kind, by the Otaheitean people called Otaha
