Tobin's Providence Logbook Mar 13, 1792

[H M Ship Providence from Adventure Bay Van Diemens] Land towards Otaheite in 1792

Tuesday March 13th

 1 pm: Light Breezes and foggy weather

 2 pm: OUt 1 Reef Mizen Top Sail

 4 pm: Saw Albatrosses, Silver Birds, some Rock weed with Barnacles on it & a shale of the Fin Back kind

 6 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual

 8 pm: Fires all night to air Ship

 9 pm: Shortened Sail occasionally for the Assistant

 2 am: Fresh Breezes and cloudy weather with haze

 4 am: Saw several Black fish a species of Grampus

 5 am: Found the Main Top Mast Trestle Trees broke – In Main Top Gallant Sail, sent down the Top Gallant Yards & secured the Mast

 7 am: Cleaned below and aired with fires, served Krout and wort as usual

 9 am: Saw small patches of Rock weed – very few Birds of any kind

12 noon: At Noon Fresh Breezes and thick misty weather Sailmakers repairing the old Mizen Top Sail
   No Observation
