Bond's Providence Logbook Jul 25, 1793

Remarks &c Thursday 25th July 1793

 1 pm: Light breezes and clear weather – Unbent the old Fore sail, Fore Main & Mizen Topsails, and bent new ones – Sent the Cutter for Lieutenant Portlock. Saw many Black-fish (a kind of Porpoise) and some Sheerwaters – Exercised great Guns and small Arms. Worked the pumps as usual.

 8 pm: Lieutenant Portlock returned – in boat – Set the lower & Fore Top Mast Steering sails

 9 pm: Moderate and fine weather

12 mid: Gunners employed examining the Powder &c. in the Magazines.

 1 am: At one O'Clock in royals nmd Cloudy weather

 3 am: Set royals and Top Gallant steering sails

 4 am: Fresh breezes and cloudy – Assistant, Antelope, Clementson, & Thomas in company

 6 am: Served the usual breakfast

 8 am: Ditto Weather Up all chests & bags & washed below. Sailmakers repairing the old Fore Top Gallant [?] Carpenters painting the Pinnace & Cutter – Served Krout

12 noon: Moderate breezes and fine weather with slight haze. Vessels in company as before – Broached a puncheon of Spruce Beer
