Bond's Providence Logbook Jul 24, 1793

Remarks &c 24th July 1793

 1 pm: Fresh gales and thick hazy weather – At 1 shortened sail for the Assistant

 3 pm: At 3 made more sail – Assistant in her station. Saw Grampuses and Sheerwaters. Worked the Pumps as usual. Hailed the Assistant and desired she would speak the Antelope and inform Captain Kempthorne our intention was to go off Cape Clear.*

 8 pm: Fresh gales and very thick weather with drizzling rain.

10 pm: Moderate breezes and thick hazy weather set Top Gallant Steering sails and royals

12 mid: More clear – In royals & Top Gallant Steering sails

 2 am: Set starboard Fore Top Mast & Top Gallant steering sails – also thye royals

 5 am: Light breezes and cloudy.

 7 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for breakfast Saw Sheerwaters, Skipjacks and a whale.

 8 am: Ditto weather, cleaned below.

 9 am: Exercised great Guns & small Arms with powder. Served Krout, and portable Soup in the Pease for Dinner

12 noon: Light breezes and fine weather – same ships in company as yesterday.
