Bond's Providence Logbook Jul 22, 1793

Remarks &c 22nd July 1793

 1 pm: Fresh gales and cloudy weather with haze – hauled down the larboard & set the starboard steering sails. Out reef Fore Top sail and handed Main sail – Saw Sheerwaters.

 5 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual, and mustered the people at their Quarters

 8 pm: In steering sails; Top Gallant sails, and 1 reef Top Sails.

 9 pm: Shortened sai for the Assistant. Saw a Whale.

11 pm: Made more sail Assistant being in her station – Hazy weather

 2 am: Set Fore Top Mast & lower steering sails

 4 am: Ditto Weather Assistant, Antelope, Thomas and Clementson in company. Served usual breakfast – Unbent the old and bent the best Fore Top Gallant Sail.

 8 am: Fresh gales and fair weather with much haze on the horizon. Washed all the decks and aired ship with Cockpit fires as customary.

10 am: Sailmakers making Waiste Clothes. Served Borecole & Portable Soup thickened with Oatmeal for dinner

12 noon: At Noon strong gales and fair weather with haze. Ships in company as before
