Bond's Providence Logbook Nov 21, 1792

Remarks &c Wednesday 21st November 1792

 1 pm: Fresh breezes and fair weather with haze

 2 pm: People employed repairing the rigging &c. some picking Oakum; Carpenters occasionally and Sailmakers about old sails – condemned the old Fore Top Mast Steering sail for old canvas for a rainy day

 5 pm: Saw a whale – Albatrosses, and Sheerwaters

 6 pm: Squally weather from the Westward. The ship pitching much in 2nd reef Fore Top Sail and down Top Gallant Yard

 8 pm: Fresh breezes and cloudy weather

 9 pm: Clear weather set Main Top Gallant Sail and Main Top Mast Steering sail

11 pm: Out 2nd reef Fore Top Sail

12 mid: Cloudy weather

 4 am: Fresh breezes and wy, handed Main Top Gallant Sail

 5 am: Cloudy set ye Main Top Gallant Sail

 6 am: Out 2nd reef Main Top Sail and set the Stay sails up Fore Top Gallant Yard and set the sail.

 8 am: Out 1st reef, and set the Steering sails forward

 9 am: Moderate breezes and dark cloudy weather – Served Sour Krout to the people as usual with Portable Soup in the Pease for Dinner

11 am: People employed new seizing and blacking the rigging near the Decks, picking Oakum &c.

12 noon: Moderate breezes and hazy weather with clouds. Assistant spared us much sail to day. Broached a Cask of Spruce Beer
