Bond's Providence Logbook Nov 14, 1792

Remarks &c from Timor towards St. Helena 14th November 1792

 1 pm: Fresh breezes and clear weather out 2nd reef of the Fore Top Sail

 3 pm: Saw an Albatross and passed by brown scum on the water – Sailmakers employed repairing Top Gallant Sails, and people picking oakum. Got up ye Main Top Gallant Yard and set the sail. Still a head sea and the ship pitching heavy – worked the Pumps &c.

 8 pm: At 8 moderate breezes and cloudy weather

12 mid: Light breezes and fair weather

 1 am: Light airs.

 4 am: Up Fore Top Gallant Yard and set the Sail. Out 1st reef & set Fore Top & Top Gallant Steering sails – Saw a Pintada bird.

 7 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast

 8 am: Fair weather up all Chests and Bags, and washed well between Decks &c. and Killed many Cockroaches – Aired the ship with Fires. Carpenters Caulking the Quick work on the Main Deck. – People picking oakum spining Spunyard, making Plats &c. Exercised Top Men at Small Arms – set lower steering sail. Saw Sheerwaters & Albacores. Served Portable Soup in the Pease for Dinner – In steering sails & Top Gallant Sails, and lowered the Top Sails

12 noon: At Noon Calm & clear weather – Swell from the Westward the ship rolling very deep. Assistant in company
   Latitude Observed 28°.41′:00″ South
