Bond's Providence Logbook Nov 5, 1792

Remarks &c Monday 5th November 1792

 1 pm: Strong gales and cloudy weather unbent the new, and bent the old Jib – Saw Tropic birds and Sheerwaters

 4 pm: A heavy swell from the SW. Passed by some rock weed

 7 pm: Worked the Pumps as usual – Fresh gale and fair weather out 3rd reef Main Top Sails

 8 pm: Ditto Weather

12 mid: Fine clear weather

 1 am: Out 3rd reef Fore Top Sail

 3 am: Fresh breezes and fine weather out 2nd reef Main & Mizen Top Sails

 4 am: Ditto Weather

 5 am: Up Top Gallant Yards – out all reefs; set Top Gallant Sails, lower and Fore Top Mast Steering sails

 7 am: Saw several Tropic birds, Sheerwaters and Gulls – Served the usual Breakfast –
Fresh breezes and cloudy; cleaned below & aired with Fires – Served Vinegar this day, with Borecole & Portable Soup thickened with Oatmeal, for Dinner. Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer in lieu of Grog

12 noon: Fresh breezes and fair weather – Assistant in company – Made the Assistants Signal to "Shew Latitide"
   Latitude Observed 23°:11′:34″ South
