Bond's Providence Logbook Aug 14, 1792

Remarks &c Tuesday 14th August 1792

 1 pm: Moderate breezes and dark cloudy weather with rain At ¼ past 1 hove to and sent the Whale boat on board the Assistant for Lieutenant Portlock – Made sail – At 2 Tacked Ship – At 3 Squally in Top Gallant sails

 4 pm: At 4 cloudy weather – ½ past 5 hove to and sent the boat with Lieutenant Portlock – In 2nd reefs Top Sails – Boat returned, hoisted her in and made sail

 8 pm: Fresh breezes with thick cloudy weather and small rain – In 3rd. reef Top Sails

 2 am: Squally

 4 am: Fresh breezes and cloudy

 6 am: Out 2nd & 3rd reefs & set Top Gallant Sails

 8 am: Strong breezes and cloudy saw a Tropic bird. Out 1st reef and set Fore Top Mast Steering sail – Served the usual breakfast – Up all Chests and Bags and washed well Fore & Aft – Served Sour Krout to the People

12 noon: A fine fresh Gale & cloudy weather Broached a Cask of Spruce Beer
