Bond's Providence Logbook Jan 12, 1792

Remarks &c towards New Holland 12 January 1792

 1 pm: Fresh gale and cloudy with a swell from the SW Quarter

 2 pm: Out 3 reef Fore & 2nd. reef Mizen Topsail.

 4 pm: Moderate and cloudy out 2nd reef Fore & Main Top Sails. Let in water and pumped it out again. Saw a large Whale and several small birds as yesterday.

 8 pm: Fresh gales and cloudy with a SW swell.

10 pm: Kept a Fire in the galley all night

12 mid: Moderate and cloudy up Top Gallant Yards and set the sails

 4 am: Fresh breezes and cloudy with a sharp air. Saw several birds

 6 am: Fresh gales & dark weather in 2 reefs

 8 am: Dark squally weather with flying showers &c. a heavy sea from the SW quarter

10 am: Served Krout and Sweet Wort to the Crew.

11 am: Cleaned and dryed below – Assistant in company

12 noon: Fresh Gales and fair weather
   Latitude Observed 37°:35′ South
